Amanda McGuire, ANP

Amanda attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she attained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007. During her time there, she worked as a nurse extern and a nursing assistant on an Oncology unit at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. This experience influenced her decision to focus on oncology as a specialty. As a result, she began her nursing career at The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. While employed there, she became an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society. She was trained to administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy. She cared for both medical and surgical oncology patients with a focus on personalized and quality care through evidencebased practice.

During her time in Columbus, Amanda returned to school at The Ohio State University. In 2011, she graduated with a Master’s of Science in Nursing and became certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She began working at the Malignant Hematology Department of Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Being a native of Asheville however, she decided to return closer to her family. She is now a Nurse Practitioner with Cancer Care of WNC, PA. Her special interests include Community Based Cancer Screening as well as Quality of Life in Palliative Care.
